Litter health records: one record per pup, built by the vet

Create a litter on the dam's record, and every pup gets their own Voocie health record and private email address. The vet CCs that address โ€” records build themselves.

From the first heartbeat, for life. Every pet gets one health story and one private Voocie email address every vet clinic already knows how to use. Voocie for breeders starts each litter on the dam's record so every pup's health story begins before they leave your program.

Litter health records in Voocie work by giving every individual pup their own record and a private @pets.voocie.com email address from the moment you create the litter on the dam's record โ€” the vet CCs each pup's address on visit summaries, and the records file automatically without any manual entry on your part. No binders, no Sunday night sorting, no scanning receipts the morning before pickup.

Because records come directly from the vet clinic's email system, they carry the clinic's identity. A buyer can see that a vaccine entry was sent by an actual veterinary practice, not typed in by the breeder after the fact.

In short:

How do litter records start in Voocie?

Litter records begin on the dam's existing Voocie record. If your dam doesn't have a record yet, start one first โ€” her health history, OFA or other genetic testing results, and pre-breeding exam should all be in her record before the litter is created.

When the litter arrives, open the dam's record in your Voocie account and create a litter. You'll add each pup โ€” their collar color, call name, or whatever identifier you use during the whelping weeks. Voocie generates an individual record for each pup automatically. Each record comes with:

How does the vet put records into the system?

This is where Voocie's email mechanic becomes the key differentiator for breeders. You don't need your vet to use any special software or integration. You give the clinic each pup's private @pets.voocie.com address โ€” the same way you'd give them your own email. When the vet sends a visit summary, vaccine record, or exam note, they CC that address. The record files into the pup's Voocie health story automatically.

Most vet practices already send visit summaries by email. This is the same workflow โ€” they just add one more CC. Nothing changes on their end. Talk to your vet about adding each pup's Voocie address to their file at the first visit.

How are individual pup records kept separate during a litter visit?

When you bring the whole litter in for their first exam, each pup has their own entry in your vet's system (or can be entered as individual patients). You provide each pup's private Voocie address to match their patient file. The vet CCs each pup's individual address on their individual visit note. Records file separately โ€” littermate A's records go into littermate A's record, not the litter's shared record.

If your vet sends a single group note covering the whole litter, you can forward the relevant section to each pup's individual address and it will file accordingly. Voocie processes records by the address they're sent to.

What happens to the records when the pup goes home?

When pickup day arrives, you generate a claim link for each pup from their individual Voocie record. The new owner opens the link, claims the record, and it transfers to their account. Every record the vet filed during the pup's time with you โ€” every exam note, vaccine entry, deworming, weight check โ€” goes with the pup.

Your breeder account retains a read-only history. The pup's new owner gives their vet the same private @pets.voocie.com address, and records continue filing from that vet forward. The health story never resets.

Is this different from keeping a shared litter binder?

Significantly. A shared litter binder โ€” whether physical or a shared folder of PDFs โ€” requires manual assembly, is vulnerable to gaps, and has to be split and duplicated at pickup. Individual Voocie records are built continuously from vet-sourced emails, require no assembly, and transfer cleanly to each new owner as a complete, individual health story. There's nothing to photocopy, nothing to split, nothing to lose.

Frequently asked questions

Does my vet need to sign up for Voocie to file records?

No. Your vet uses their existing email โ€” they CC the pup's private @pets.voocie.com address on any visit summary or exam note, the same way they CC a client's own email. No software, no account, no integration required on the clinic's end.

Can I add records manually if the vet doesn't send an email?

Yes. You can attach documents, upload PDFs, or type notes directly into a pup's Voocie record. Email from the clinic is the preferred mechanic because it carries the clinic's identity, but manual entries are fully supported.

What if two pups have the same call name during the litter weeks?

Voocie identifies each pup by their unique record and private address, not by their call name. You can use any working identifier (collar color, birth order) during the litter period and update the name when the new owner claims the record and names the pup.

How many pups can I add to a litter?

There's no fixed cap on litter size in Voocie. Each pup gets their own record regardless of litter size.

What about puppies that don't make it past whelping?

Records for pups that don't survive are kept in your account as part of your breeding program history. They're not visible to buyers and don't affect the dam's active litter listing.
